Separation and purification of ionic liquids

Nov 08, 2021

Due to its unique physical and chemical properties, ionic liquids are very suitable for use as a solvent for separation and purification. There have been a large number of reports in this regard, such as the use of ionic liquids to extract and recover butanol from fermentation broth; the use of supercritical CO2 to extract non-volatile organic compounds from ionic liquids and so on. Deng Youquan, a chemist in my country, has also done some research in this area. They applied ionic liquids to the field of solid-solid separation for the first time, using [BMIM]PF6 as the leaching agent to separate the solid mixture of taurine and sodium sulfate, effectively separating taurine with a recovery rate higher than 97%. This method has Great application value.
