English name: poly(ethylene imine), referred to as PEI

CAS number: 9002-98-6 (polyethylenimine branched viscous liquid)

Commercial products are usually 20% to 50% aqueous solutions. The degree of polymerization used in the paper industry is about 100, and its aqueous solution is positive. The pH of 5% aqueous solution is 8-11, and it will gel in the presence of acid. Polyethyleneimine has high reactivity, can react with the hydroxyl groups in cellulose and cross-link and polymerize, so that the paper produces wet strength and has a dry strengthening effect. The presence of any acid, alkali and aluminum sulfate will affect its wet strength and retention. It is mainly used as a wet strength agent for unsizing absorbent paper (such as filter paper, blotting paper, toilet paper, etc.), but its damaged paper is difficult to handle. In addition, it can speed up the filtration of the pulp and make the fine fibers in the white water easy to flocculate. It has a strong binding force to acid dyes and can be used as a fixing agent for acid dyes in paper dyeing. It can also be used to treat cellophane to reduce the wetting deformation of the paper. Polyethyleneimine can also be used for fiber modification, printing and dyeing auxiliaries, ion exchange resins, and coagulation and sedimentation (metal capture, wastewater treatment), etc.
