Synthesis of CAS 111865-47-5 | Benzyltrimethylammonium tribromide
Dissolve 9.3g (50mmol) of benzyltrimethylammonium chloride and 3.8g (25mmol) of sodium hypochondrite in a mixed solvent of 80ml of water and 50ml of dichloromethane, under ice bath cooling and stirring, slowly add 30.2 g (175 mmol) 47% hydrobromic acid for about 15 min. The organic layer was separated and the aqueous layer was extracted with dichloromethane. The organic layers were combined and dried over anhydrous MgSO4. The solvent was evaporated, and the residue was recrystallized from dichloromethane-diethyl ether (5:1, V/V) to obtain 16.6 g of orange-red crystals with a yield of 85%.
