Magnesium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide(CAS:133395-16-1) is a strong Lewis acid and used as a catalyst in organic synthesis. It is an electrolyte, which shows high anodic stability used in rechargeable magnesium batteries.

It is also a salt that is used in the synthesis of a polymeric gel electrolyte system. Coupled with poly(ethylene oxide)-modified polymethacrylate (PEO-PMA), the gel electrolyte exhibits great characteristics such as flexibility and mechanical strength.
