2,2'-Bis(2-chlorophenyl)-4,4',5,5'-tetraphenyl-1,2'-biimidazole(CAS:7189-82-4) is an oxime that is used as a photoinitiator for the production of polymers. It absorbs in the UV range and initiates polymerization by breaking up into radicals. 2,2'-Bis(2-chlorophenyl)-4,4',5,5'-tetraphenyl-1,2'-biimidazole(CAS:7189-82-4) has shown to be useful in the removal of sludge from industrial wastewater. The imidazole ring's thermal stability makes it more resistant to degradation when exposed to heat than other photoinitiators.
PI-BCIM is also a photoinitiator used for dry film or lithographic printing plate, etc.
