6-Bromo-2-methylpyridin-3-amine(CAS:126325-47-1) is a metabolite of the drug aminopyridine. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of human carboxylesterase and has been used as a fluorescent probe to measure the catalytic activity of this enzyme. 5-Amino-2-bromo-6-picoline is also an esterase substrate that undergoes hydrolysis by esterases to form picolinic acid. This chemical structure was optimized for use in biological studies, and can be used to measure the concentration of picogram quantities of 5-amino-2-bromo-6 picoline in tissue samples.
