Perfluorodecalin(CAS:306-94-5) is used as a building block reagent as well maintains ability to dissolve gases such as oxygen and increase oxygen to a location allowing for medicinal uses such as preserving tissue after pancreas transplants.
Perfluorodecalin(CAS:306-94-5) can be also used as a blood substitute and is often used in retinal vitreous surgery; because of its ability to dissolve and transmit oxygen to the skin, it can be used as a skin conditioner in cosmetics and personal care products.
