Production of CAS 541-47-9 | 3,3-Dimethylacrylic acid
Isopropylidene acetone and potassium hypochlorite aqueous solution are reacted in dioxane, and the reaction exothermic makes the generated chloroform reflux.
After the reaction is completed, sodium bisulfite is added to react with excess hypochlorite. Acidification with sulfuric acid, extraction with ether, and distillation under reduced pressure from the extract to obtain 3-methyl-2-butenoic acid. Yield 49-53%.
