Product Introduction
Products Description

It is a chemical reagent often used to produce organic sulfur compounds. It is a yellowish solid powder at normal temperature and pressure. It has a strong and unpleasant smell of decay. It was first prepared by the reaction of aromatics with tetraphosphorous decasulfide in 1956. Swedish chemist Sven-OlovLawesson carefully studied its reactions with organic compounds and popularized its use, hence the name. The molecule of Lawson's reagent contains a four-membered ring structure of alternating sulfur and phosphorus. When heated, depolymerization occurs to form two unstable thiophosphorous yelide (R-PS2), which are the main reactive intermediates. The presence of the intermediate R-PS2 was confirmed by the 31NMR spectra of the product of Lawson's reagent with two different substituents. Lawson's reagent is an oxygen-sulfur exchange reagent, the most common application is the preparation of thioamide, to convert carbonyl compounds into thiocarbonyl compounds, which can be reacted with substrates including ketone, ester, lactone, amide, lactam, quinone, etc. The electron-rich carbonyl group reacts more easily. The double bond is not affected when reacting with α,β- unsaturated aldehydes and ketones.
