Deferoxamine mesylate (Desferrioxamine B, DFOM) is a mesylate of Deferoxamine, which forms iron complexes and is used as a chelating agent. Deferoxamine is an inhibitor of iron death that stabilizes HIF-1α expression and improves HIF-1α activity during hypoxia and hyperglycemia in vitro. Deferoxamine can reduce the deposition of beta-amyloid (Aβ) and induce autophagy.
